Community Ministries

• Annual Thanksgiving Dinner
  Free dinner from 12:00 -5:30pm on Thanksgiving day. Several hundred are served every year.
• Operation Christmas Child
  We are the Relay Center for the Iowa City area.We have opportunities as well as opportunities available in the area. 
• Food Bank We accept donations year long and offer food to the community on a once a month basis. Appointments are required and can be arranged by calling the office at 319.354.3118                                                                                                                                                                                  
• Reclaiming Roots
  The purpose of {reclaiming roots} is to reclaim and restor what used to be... to bring beauty and new use to areas of our community that need this help. We work on various projects throughout the year.
• Shelter House
  An opportunity to prepare and serve meals with a group of people to be served at the Shelter House in Iowa City. For more information contact Steve Good. 319.354.3118
• ToGather Together
  A community wide effort to provide school supplies to area schools.
• Pine Lake Camps
  Ongoing work on the camp grounds and buildings. Annual need for staff also.
• 2nd Half for Him
  Work for the retiree sho is active and filled with energy as well as those less active. Contact the MIBC office at 651-633-0560 for more information.

Other Communities In Our Building

The River Community Church leases or allows space to several community groups in our community, but is not associated with them. Some of them include....

Narcotics Annonymous, Alanon, Stepping Stones Pre-School, Scouting for Food through Boy Scouts, City High School Football, Zumba.

Missions

We support many missionaries in the Iowa City community and the state of Iowa. This includes those who minister to those who live here, and also to those in other parts of the United States and the world including Japan, Afica and South America.  These missionaries serve in many capacities, and we are blessed to have the oportunity to support them in God's work.
